Othmane El Goumri's Impressive Sydney Marathon Victory

Congratulations to Othmane El Goumri on his impressive win in the Sydney Marathon yesterday.

The Moroccan long-distance runner finished first in the men’s marathon and dedicated his win to the victims of the recent earthquake, stating “I was thinking about the people in Morocco while running, and this victory is for them.” After almost withdrawing from the race due to the impact of the earthquake, last minute he changed his mind and decided to fly to Sydney for the race.

El Goumri wore a black armband in tribute of those who lost their lives and loved ones’ last week, and finished the 42km course with a remarkable time of 2:08:20.

With a record turnout of more than 17,000 runners, we are very proud of Othmane’s achievement.
