Morocco-Spain-Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup

The FIFA Council has unanimously decided to award the hosting rights of the 2030 World Cup to the joint bid of Morocco, Portugal, and Spain. 

The three countries will host 101 matches, with Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina hosting 3 opening games, each. 

King Mohammed VI celebrated the news, stressing that the decision made by the FIFA Executive Committee has acknowledged Morocco’s rising status in world football. 

King Mohammed VI extended his congratulations to Spain and Portugal and reiterated Morocco's commitment to “working in perfect synergy” for the success of the joint bid in each of the host countries. 

The trio’s hosting of the World Cup is sending a great message of peace, tolerance, and inclusion. 

“Two continents - Africa and Europe - united not only in a celebration of football but also in providing unique social and cultural cohesion” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
